Hello gents. It’s been a while since our last post. Things have been very busy on this end lately, but we’re back for the fall season. Today we are going to take a quick look at the autumn style for today’s dapper gentleman. I don’t know about you, but back in the day my autumn style was simply cured by sweat shirts, thick socks, gym shoes, a pair of khakis and a beanie I purchased at Walmart.
Gentleman, over time I have graduated from that current dress code and I am going to share some simple ideas that can graduate your personal style from dressing like a high-school student to a dapper gentleman for the current fall seasons. Let’s get down to it shall we.
The Quilted Vest. It’s pretty obvious that every guy knows he should wear a coat in the fall to protect himself against the elements. Sometimes though a jacket is too hot, but not having a coat is too cold. The quilted vest is a perfect autumn style avenue. The vest is usually insulated with cotton or polyester and the outside in nylon. It will keep you at the right temperature without causing you to sweat and it will still protect you from the rain and wind.
The Classic Sweater. Gentleman, just don’t get into the habit of throwing on any old sweater and call it stylish. Be strategic. Consider what you’re about to wear. A quick tip for you to think about is when it comes to sweaters for each occasion is to wear a V-neck for a dressier look and save the Crew neck the casual look. Next look at the type of material your sweater is made from. You have plenty of choices, but for the fall I would suggest a classic wool sweater or a cashmere knit sweater.
Upgrade Your Socks. Let’s not forget to keep our tootsies warm men. It’s time to lay to rest those thin layered socks and allow them to hibernate for the next few months. Upgrade your wardrobe with some wool-blend trouser socks. You can still keep the stylish designs, but look for some “hip” socks that will still keep you warm while cruising the streets during the day or evening.
Embrace the Suede. The classic brogue is a great men’s shoe, but maybe consider wearing a pair of chukkas or even expanding your personal fall style with a pair of suede oxfords. Need I say anymore?
Fall Accessories Always. I know that autumn doesn’t carry the official snowflakes of winter, but don’t underestimate the importance of a scarf and beanie. These are two simple but powerful pieces that can enhance your fall wardrobe and keep you warm. It’s not time for heavy knit accessories, but you can still wear the ones that are thin knit. If you’re going to be doing a lot of walking outside, consider wearing a thin knit burgundy beanie. Why should you constantly be concerned with fixing your wind-blown hair, when you can wear a beanie and still look dapper? Finally adding a nice scarf make your wardrobe “pop” and keeps your neck warm while sporting your quilted vest or sport coat.
There you have it guys. Our version of a simplified, but upgraded autumn wardrobe for the dapper gentleman. What did you enjoy about this post? Did you learn anything new? Did we miss anything? We would love to hear your thoughts and read your comments. Thank you again for your support.
